The National Works Agency (NWA) and China Harbour Engineering Company have signed a US $1,000,000 dollar contract for a new road in the corporate area
The road project is being undertaken under the Major Infrastructure Development Programme (MID P).
It’s expected that the road will be completed by the end of October and will ease traffic woes being experienced by motorists with a number of major road projects underway.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced this morning (September 17) that it will be 1.4 kilometres with two lanes and allow traffic to bypass Three Miles.
Speaking at a press conference, Mr. Holness said there was a plan for a new road with the development of the Caymanas Special Economic Zone.
He said this plan is being brought forward.
Mr holness said this road will help resolve some of the challenges faced by motorists.
He noted that the six legacy projects being undertaken will improve road infrastructure adding that five of them are being implemented in Kingston, St. Andrew and St. Catherine where significant traffic inefficiencies exist.
He said on completion of all five, the capacity of corporate area roads and travel time will be significantly improved.
