PM says he is being a good steward of the country

Prime Minister Andrew Holness says he is being a good steward of the country and that others, who he describes as anti-development people are being hypocritical.

He was reacting to criticisms about the salary hike for the Political Directorate, comparisons to the pay offered to public sector workers, as well as complaints that politicians lack accountability and performance.

Speaking at an event in Kingston yesterday (May 18), Mr Holness noted that Cabinet agonized over the decision, being aware of the anticipated backlash.

He stressed that his administration will ignore the pontification, focusing instead on tackling challenging issues which result in an improved quality of life for Jamaicans.

The Prime Minister noted that citizens have the option of letting him know if he is not being a good steward.

He chastized persons who are using the situation to create false narratives and political fodder.
