Prime Minister Andrew Holness says major emitters should contribute more financially to supporting climate action in developing countries.

Mr. Holness who spoke during a virtual summit hosted by the White House to raise ambition on tackling Climate Change says Jamaica remains committed to achieving 60 per cent reduction in emissions by 2030.

He says while a sum has been committed to climate change efforts in developing countries, more must be done by those countries responsible for higher carbon emissions.

Mr. Holness says financing for tackling climate change issues must also be made more accessible to developing countries.

39 other world leaders, including US President Joe Biden spoke at the summit.
