Record high 929 Covid-19 infections in one day, with 21 deaths and 723 hospitalizations

Jamaica yesterday recorded it’s highest number of Covid-19 cases in one day with 929 infections.

This, pushes the case count to 66,663.

Of the new cases 540 are females and 389 are males.

Their ages range from 1 day to 97 years.

Kingston and St. Andrew had the highest number of cases with 132, followed by Manchester with 123.

St. Catherine had 105 and St. James had 103.

All parishes recorded new cases.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry is reporting 21 new Covid-19 related deaths.

The death tally is now 1,504.

5 deaths are now under investigation.

The deaths occurred between August 17 and August 28.

Six of the deceased were from St. James, 5 from St. Elizabeth, 5 from Westmoreland, 3 from Kingston and St. Andrew, and one each from St. Catherine and Portland.

And 723 patients are now hospitalized among them are 67 who are critically ill, 88 who are severely ill 190 who are moderately ill.

67 persons have recovered from Covid-19 pushing overall recoveries to 48,095.

There are 16,648 active cases.
