Tension remains high on Charles Street, in downtown Kingston, where a man was fatally shot by a member of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) last evening.

The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Oraine Glenn of Charles Street, Kingston 14.

Police say Glenn was fatally shot during a confrontation.

Preliminary reports are that a team of JDF personnel was on patrol on Charles Street when they accosted a group of men and requested to search them. It is alleged that a member of the JDF attempted to take Glenn into custody, but he allegedly tried to disarm the officer.
