Scores of students in Spanish Town remain out of school for a second day, due to violence flare up

Scores of students in Spanish Town, St. Catherine remain out of school for a second day, as a result of a flare up in violence in the old capital earlier this week.

On Tuesday, a shoot out between alleged gang members left 2 people dead and several wounded.

One man was also fatally shot by police during an alleged confrontation.

A curfew has been imposed in sections of Spanish Town.

However, this is not enough to encourage some students to turn out for classes.

Vice Principal of the Spanish Town Primary, in St. Catherine, Janet Penado told Irie Fm News that since the incidents, several students have not showed up to school.

She said several teachers are being affected as well.
