Security forces to ramp up activities for the holiday season

The Ministry of National Security, will be ramping up security presence across the island, as the holiday season approaches.

Minister of National Security, Dr. Horace Chang says the Jamaica Defence Force, JDF and the Jamaica Constabulary Force, JCF will operate as a joint force to protect law abiding citizens during the Christmas season.

He says security presence will be increased in commercial areas island-wide for the next 8 weeks.

Meantime, Police Commissioner, Major General Antony Anderson says the joint/military operation will be setting conditions for next year.

For his part, Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Rocky Meade says the JDF will be deploying 400 new soldiers to be apart of the team

He says the force will also be utilizing some of its advanced equipment in fighting crime.

Lieutenant General Meade in assuring that the security personnel will operate with utmost respect, is urging law abiding citizens to be cooperative and receptive.

They were speaking at a press conference at Jamaica House earlier today (November 7).
