Security guards attached to Beryllium Limited considering legal action

Security guards attached to Beryllium Limited are considering taking legal action against their employer as it relates to issues surrounding their employment status.

Several guards withdrew their services this morning to register their discontent, after a meeting with management about the terms of their new employment contracts, did not end in their favour.

President of the Union of Clerical Administrative and Supervisory Employees, UCASE Vincent Morrison met with the guards this morning to discuss their way forward.

He told Irie FM News that the guards are being asked to sign contracts that will see them relinquishing all of their past benefits – such as vacation leave and years of service.

Despite returning to work, the security guards have decided that they are not signing the documents.

Mr. Morrison said the next step, if a response is not forthcoming from the company’s management, is to secure legal representation and have the court rule on the matter.
