The Ministry of National Security says measures have been implemented to deal with the high number of outstanding traffic tickets.

The matter was addressed at today’s (January 16) meeting of the Public Administration and Appropriations Committee of Parliament and it was revealed that there are thousands of outstanding tickets valued at millions of dollars for the period November 2010 to December 2018.

Permanent Secretary in the National Security Ministry Dianne Mcintosh gave updated figures today of 309 thousand 608 tickets. She highlighted however that 242 thousand of these tickets classified as failed payments had been paid.

She highlighted to the PAAC the factors contributing to the outstanding tickets, noting delays in reflecting that payments made by motorists.

Another factor relates to logistics relating to jurisdiction.
