Senators urge citizens to exercise caution on the nation’s roadways

Members of the Senate have appealed to road users to exercise caution on the nation’s roadways, this festive season.

This, in the wake of a collision on Thursday (December 10) that resulted in the death of a traffic cop.

Dead is 24-year-old Constable Fabian Morrison, who was attached to the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch.

The female motorist involved in the accident has been taken into custody.

While offering condolences to the family of Constable Morrison, Minister Without Portfolio in the National Security Ministry Senator Matthew Samuda, urged motorists to drive within the speed limit.

His sentiments were echoed by Leader of Government Business in the Senate, Kamina Johnson-Smith, who urged motorists to drive carefully.

Some 401 persons have died in road crashes since the start of the year.
