The Medical Association of Jamaica (MAJ) is reporting that several doctors are out sick due to COVID-19.
In recent days Jamaica has been recording over 1000 daily cases.
Hospitalizations also continue to increase.
Speaking with IRIE FM news, MAJ President Dr. Brian James said almost all of the country’s hospitals are affected.
At the St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital, some 40 workers including medical doctors are out due to COVID-19.
There has also been an increase in persons showing up with respiratory issues.
Dr. James said while he is unable to say how many doctors are out, it poses a huge problem for hospitals.
Dr. James is however hopeful that the situation will improve.
