Four people were taken into police custody following the seizure of an illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition in Snow Hill, Portland, this morning (April 15).
Head of the Portland police Superintendent Kenneth Chin said the seizure occurred during a targeted raid.
He noted that three illegal firearms have been seized in the parish since the start of this year.
Meanwhile, another firearm and four rounds of ammunition were seized during a targeted raid along Red Hills Road, in Kingston 8.
Reports are that at about 5:30 AM, lawmen were in search of a man wanted for various crimes in the area.
Upon entering a room at a premises, two men allegedly opened fire at the police, who took evasive action and returned the fire.
After the gunfire subsided, one man was found with a .40 Smith and Wesson pistol along with four rounds of ammunition.
He was taken into custody, however, his identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
