Showdown between Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce and Sha’carri Richardson will not materialize

The highly anticipated showdown between reigning world 100 metre champion Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce and colourful American sprinter Sha’carri Richardson at the Kip Keino Classic in Kenya will not materialize.

This as both were kept apart after being entered for different events at the meet which is scheduled to take place at the Moi international sports Centre in Kasarani  on May 13.

Fraser-Pryce who last season stormed to victory in the women’s 100 metres in 10.67 seconds, will once again line up in that event where she will face Kenyan double sprint champion  Maximilla Imali and the American pair of Twanisha Terry and Teahna Daniels.

It comes after she pulled out of last Saturday’s Botswana Golden Grand Prix due to a family emergency.

Richardson meanwhile will contest the women’s 200 meters and will take on compatriots Javianne Oliver, Kyra Jefferson and Shannon Ray along with African Games champion Gina Bass of Gambia.

The 4th edition of the kip Keino classic will also be contested by the likes of African record older Ferdinand Omanyala who ran a world leading 9.78 seconds in Botswana, world 100 metres silver medalist.

Marvin Bracy, 2022 world 200 metres silver medallist Kenneth Bednarek, African games 100m silver medallist Arthur Cisse and Canadian world 4x100m champion Aaron Brown along with Jerome Blake.
