Trinidad and Tobago Soca stars and power couple, Fayann Lyons and Bunji Garlin have joined the list of supporters sending aid to St. Vincent and the Grenadines as the ongoing volcanic eruptions continue to affect the country.
Following reports this week that water is running short as heavy ash contaminates supplies, both Fayann and Bunji were quick to help. The husband and wife shared photographs and videos on their official Instagram pages, showing cases of water being loaded onto trucks.
Over 20,000 people have been evacuated from the island’s northern region, where the exploding volcano is located, with more than 3,000 of them staying at more than 80 government shelters.
Meanwhile, St. Vincent and the Grenadines Soca entertainer Skinny Fabulous shared on Instagram that nothing humbles you like a natural disaster. He also revealed that with one bucket of water, he could take a bath, wash and rinse his hair, brush his teeth, and still had more water left. He also shared that this experience shows how much people waste take running water for granted.
Assistance has since come from the World Bank, UNICEF, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, and countless others.
The volcano which had seen a low-level eruption since December, experienced the first of several major explosions last Friday, and experts say activity could continue for weeks.
