Some services to be offered after CRH rehabilitation already initiated

Some of the services that will be rolled out fully, at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in St James, when rehabilitation is done, have already been initiated.

 

Clinical coordinator Dr Delroy Fray outlined the services, while responding to questions, during a town hall meeting, hosted by the health ministry, in Montego-Bay, on Thursday evening.

 

Services already activated include, radiation oncology, which treats, among other things, breast cancer.

 

 

The infectious disease department has been active over the past 2 years, dealing with Covid related matters.

 

Other services that are pending include, a specialized burn unit.

 

 

He added that patients will soon be able to get colonoscopy services, free of cost.

 

 

The refurbished hospital will offer 35 speciality area services, up from 27.

It will also have 670 beds, up from 450, as well as 10 beds for the new maternal high dependency unit, and 4 high dependency beds for the internal medicine unit.
