Head of the St. Ann Police, Senior Superintendent, Dwight Powell says some officers assigned to administrative duties will be redeployed to field operations to boost crime-fighting initiatives in the parish.
His comment follows a number of criminal activities in the parish in recent weeks, including the fatal stabbing of a man in Ocho Rios, yesterday (October 12).
201 criminal incidents have been reported in the parish since the start of the year.
SSP Powell says putting more officers in the field will help assure citizens that the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is addressing their concerns.
He says with the implementation of this and other programmes, the police hope to record a decrease in crimes by the end of the year.
SSP Powell says citizens need not worry.
