“Stand up for our women and children”, says Dancehall deejay Cham

Stand up for our women and children” is the message being promoted by entertainer.

On Friday (May 26), via his official Instagram account, the Dancehall deejay shared a video slide created by ‘Elevate Her Summit’ which detailed the tragic murders of Khanice Jackson and social media influencer Anneka “Slickiana” Townsend, who were both killed by men.

In the comment section, entertainer Razor B shared three praying hand emojis. Meanwhile, other social media users lament that Jamaica is no longer a safe place, and some thanked Cham for shining light on a huge issue that continues to plague the country.

Elevate Her Summit, set for May 31 at the Chinese Benevolent Association in Kingston, was organized by Women’s rights advocate Patricia Duncan Sutherland, Gender Specialist Dr. Nadeen Spence, and Reggae artiste Queen Ifrica.

The Elevate Her Summit will create a platform for collaboration, data sharing, and strategic partnership.The event is expected to bring together mental health practitioners, members of the security forces, political leaders, youth leaders, survivors, and agencies that support survivors to have open and honest discussions about the systemic shortfalls and the windows for intervention, prevention and treatment that can truly improve the lives of women and children.
