Teachers encouraged to embrace AI in schools

Teachers are being encouraged to embrace artificial intelligence, and its use in the education sector.

Educator Dr Rohan Jowallah stressed that limited knowledge of AI and use of its applications, can result in teachers being left behind, as the world continues to advance in technology.

Speaking at the Jamaica Teachers Association Helen stills professional development day forum on Thursday, Dr Jowallah noted public concern about the use of artificial intelligence in the classroom.

Among the areas of concern is Chat GPT.

Dr Jowallah said teachers who do not embrace the technology will face challenges.

He pointed out that AI technology is used to improve the teaching and learning process, and urged teachers to begin using it.

Dr Jowallah also called on the government to do more to advance the use of technology in schools.
