Transport Ministry clarifies speeding fines

The Transport Ministry is seeking to clarify public concerns, about the structure for fines, under the proposed revised Road Traffic Act.The Ministry says the new act will not introduce exorbitant fees, as members of the public have previously believed.According to Minister without portfolio in the Transport Ministry Dr. Morais Guy, recent reports of fines as high as $45,000 are not correct.He says the bill indicates that, exceeding the speed limit between 16 and 32 kilometres, will attract a $6,000 ticket.
