Transport operators get 7 day extension to become compliant with new uniform requirement

by March 27th, 2019

Hackney Carriage and Contract Carriage Operators have been granted an additional 7 days to acquire the prescribed uniform.

Following a call for an extension by several transport groups yesterday (March 26), Transport Minister, Robert Montague extended the previous April 1 deadline to April 8.

Corporate Communications Manager at the Transport Authority Petra Kene Williams says existing route taxi and rural stage carriage operators who already have their approved uniforms are expected to continue wearing them.

She adds that where operators are affiliated with a taxi or tour company which has an established uniform for drivers, the company may seek approval for modification.

Ms. Williams notes that in all other instances, operators must wear their uniform.

Meanwhile, President of the Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services, TODSS, Egeton Newman says he welcomes the extension.
