Twenty-five businesses convicted for breaches of the plastic ban

by February 19th, 2020

Since January 2020, some 25 businesses and individuals have been convicted for breaches of the plastic ban.

The 25 convicted are among a group of 37 that have been brought before parish courts for breaching the Plastic Packaging Materials Prohibition order.

The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) notes that convicted businesses include several restaurants and supermarkets.

NEPA’s Public Education and Corporate Communication Manager, Ollyvia Anderson says the agency has several other matters that will be heard in the coming weeks.

Miss Anderson notes that several of the businesses charged were businesses that did not heed warning notices given early last year.

Breaches of the plastic prohibition order can be reported to NEPA by calling 876-285-8531, 876-754-7540 or toll-free @ 888-991-9005.
