The Portland Police are reporting that one man has been taken into custody, in relation to the shooting death of a woman, and the wounding of her daughter in Reach District on Sunday (June 18).

Thirty-seven year-old, Shernette Ferguson, of Reach District, Manchioneal, was shot multiple times, while her 9-year-old daughter was shot in the ankle and is still being treated at hospital.

Police say the incident occurred between 12:30 and 1:00 a.m, on Sunday.

Deputy Superintendent in charge of the Portland Police Rex Swearing says, police are working hard to bring the perpetrator to justice.
