The Opposition People’s National Party is chiding the government for breaking protocol and politicizing disaster management during the passage of Hurricane Matthew.
Speaking at a press conference this afternoon (Oct 7) Opposition Spokesman on Local Government Noel Arscott pointed out that during the threat of Hurricane Matthew, there were breaches of established protocol.
He added that during the tenure of the PNP government, they did not politicize disaster risk management issues.
In addition, the Opposition Spokesman noted that there were also reports of politicians that collected relief supplies to personally distribute.
The Opposition stated that while they were applauding the public awareness efforts of the government during the storm, they had to highlight the issue of inadequate supplies for shelters across the island.
