The opposition People’s National Party is questioning why the government has not yet declared a zone of special operation.
The government recently passed into law, legislation that would allow the government to declare a crime affected community, a special zone for attention by the security forces and social services.
Opposition leader Dr Peter Phillips says a month after the Governor General signed the zones of special operations bill, a zone is yet to be declared, even though murders are increasing and crime is rampant.
Dr Phillips says the solution to crime is not more legislation, rather enforcement of existing laws.
He adds that crime fighting also needs more resources for security forces.
