Two-time Olympic 100 meters champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is one of three persons who will be conferred with honorary degrees by The University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona at its graduation ceremonies scheduled for October 28 – 29.

The MVP star won her second straight 100m gold medal at London 2012 and also won 100m titles at the IAAF World Championships in 2009, 2013 and 2015.

As well as being the 4th fastest female sprinter of all time, she is also a role model for Jamaican youth and was appointed the first National Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF Jamaica in 2010.

The other awardees will be American actor, producer and humanitarian Daniel ‘Danny’ Glover, and internationally celebrated Jamaican writer and poet, Lorna Goodison.

Glover and Goodison will both receive the honorary degree of Doctor of Letters (DLitt) while Fraser-Pryce, who became the first Jamaican woman to win the 100-metre Olympic gold medal in 2008, will receive the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD).
