Sections of the North South link of Highway 2000 has been closed to vehicular access, due to an oil tanker which is on fire in the vicinity of the Linstead toll booth.

Police officers are on location diverting traffic.

Motorists using the highway heading towards St. Ann are being urged to use the alternative routes through Linstead.

Similarly, motorists heading towards St. Catherine are being diverted through Fern Gully and Moneague respectively.

Head of the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch Assistant Commissioner of Police Calvin Allen, said only the front of the truck is on fire.

Its not clear what caused the fire.

There is no report of injury.
