NHT and unions to meet today, following sick-out by workers yesterday

The Union of Clerical Administrative and Supervisory Employees (U-CASE) says it does not expect its members who are employed to the National Housing Trust (NHT) to join industrial action taken by their colleagues who are represented by another union.

Yesterday (May 29), some NHT workers who are members of the University and Allied Workers Union (UAWU) staged a sick out, disrupting operations at several offices islandwide.

 

The workers are reportedly upset about the lack of a positive and definitive response from the company and the Finance Ministry, regarding the implementation of a job evaluation exercise, which started in 2018 and ended in 2021.

 

The management of the NHT, the UAWU and U-CASE are to meet regarding the matter at 10 this morning.

 

It is not clear if the sick-out will continue ahead of today’s meeting.
