Former Chief Justice of Jamaica, Lensley Wolfe has died.

 

Wolfe, who passed away yesterday (April 18), served as Chief Justice from 1996 to 2007.

 

His legal career spanned over five decades.

 

In a post on social media, Prime Minister Andrew Holness described Wolfe as a great jurist and a distinguished public servant.

 

Mr Holness said Wolfe was a man of immense integrity and wisdom, with a dedication to justice.

 

The Prime Minister lauded the late former Chief Justice’s contributions to the development of the country’s legal system, and his unwavering commitment to fairness and equality.

 

Meantime Justice Minister Delroy Chuck said he was a highly respected jurist who dedicated his life to the rule of law.

 

Mr Chuck added that he presided over some of the most important and complex cases in the country’s history.
