Full service to resume at St. Catherine Parish Court’s administrative office today

Full service will resume at the St. Catherine Parish Court’s administrative office effective this morning (July 26) at 8:30.

The office was closed following a fire on Sunday.

In a statement last evening, the judiciary said civil and family matters listed for the main court in Spanish Town and its outstations will be rescheduled to new dates.

Therefore, persons are being asked to attend the respective courts on their given dates to be advised of new dates.

It added that criminal and traffic matters listed for the main court in Spanish Town and its outstations in Linstead and Old Harbour will be heard as previously scheduled.

Meantime, one suspect is in custody in relation to the fire.

Head of the St. Catherine North Police, Senior Superintendent, Howard Chambers said the suspect is under suspicion of breaking and entering, larceny and arson.

This is the second fire at the courthouse in less than two months.

Public Relations Officer at the Jamaica Fire Brigade, Emelio Ebanks told IRIE FM news that the loss is estimated at 30 million dollars.
