JLP offers five scholarships to celebrate 79th anniversary

The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) will be offering 5 scholarships to celebrate it’s 79th anniversary.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement on Sunday.

Speaking at the JLP’s anniversary ceremony at the Webster Memorial United Church, the prime minister said the scholarships will be offered to commemorate long standing members of the party.

The scholarships will be named after Chris Bovel, Derrick Smith, Hector Winter, Robert Lightbourne and Oswald Harding, and target areas including computer and data science.

He noted that the move will complete the party’s tradition of offering scholarships while celebrating it’s anniversaries.

He noted that this is the fourth year of offering scholarships with one co-hort having graduated so far.
