The Westmoreland Police are ramping up measures to address violence in schools.

In recent times, there have been numerous incidents of school violence involving students and staff.

Speaking at an event at the Grange Hill High School on Friday, Head of the Westmoreland Police, Senior Superintendent Wayne Josephs said at least one school in the parish has a gang-violence issue.

He said the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigations Branch, CTOC, is among agencies working to tackle the issue.

He added that the police are also working with communities to address violence.
